Adoption Events


Due to the COVID-19 pandemic all current adoption events have been canceled through the end of April 2020. 
However through the end of April 2020 we are discounting all pet adoptions by 50%! 
We will update future events as needed.

Annual Events:

 

Bark in the Park

Saturday, March 7, 2020 10 a.m.-2 p.m.

Cornerstone Park, 1600 Wigwam Pkwy.
Bark In the Park features four hours of fun for you and your dog. Watch demonstrations and visit informational and vendor booths, take part in fun contests, and meet lots of beautiful dogs looking for forever homes.

All pets must be leashed and handlers must be at least 10 years old. Owners are responsible for cleaning up after their pets. Admission is free.

CANCELLED:  Dog Days of Inspirada

On Saturday, March 28, 2020, from 9 a.m.-1 p.m., Animal Control officers and volunteers plus some dogs waiting for their forever families will attend Inspirada's Dog Days event at Solista Park, 1890 Via Firenze.

CANCELLED:  Spring Into Adoptions

Join us on Saturday, April 4, 2020, as we celebrate spring and offer half-price adoptions all day! The Shelter is open from 9 a.m.-5 p.m.

 All adoptions will be half price:
• Cats/kittens $40, regularly $80.
• Dogs/puppies $45, regularly $90.
• Rabbits $17.50, regularly $35.
Henderson residents will receive an additional 50% off all adoption fees! These fees include the routine vaccines, spay or neuter surgery if not already done, microchip ID and registration, and rabies tag or Henderson license.

Adoptions end at 4:30 p.m.; anyone who would like to adopt a dog or cat during the event must have their furry friend chosen before 4:30 p.m.

Maddie's Pet Adoption Days

On Saturday and Sunday, June 5 and 6 and Sept. 25 and 26, from 9 a.m.-5 p.m., Henderson will join animal shelters and rescue groups across Nevada in taking parkt in Maddie's Pet Adoption Days, when pet adoption fees are waived with the goal of placing every adoptable dog and cat into a loving home.

Every pet is spayed or neutered and vaccinated, and standard adoption policies still apply. Groups are able to waive the fees because we are essentially sponsoring these pets, awarding $200 for every dog or cat adopted to the group they came from.”

Adoptions end at 4:30 p.m.; anyone who would like to adopt a dog or cat during the event must have their furry friend chosen before 4:30 p.m.

Clear the Shelters

The City of Henderson Animal Care and Control Facility will participate in “Clear the Shelters” on a weekend in August TBD. The Animal Shelter is joining hundreds of animal shelters across the country in a nationwide effort to find all shelter pets loving forever homes during Clear the Shelters!

 All adoptions will be half price:
• Cats/kittens $40, regularly $80.
• Dogs/puppies $45, regularly $90.
• Rabbits $17.50, regularly $35.

These fees include the routine vaccines, spay or neuter surgery if not already done, microchip ID and registration, and Rabies tag or Henderson License (depending on where you live). Anyone adopting who have animals at home must provide pet(s) current rabies vaccination and spay/neuter paperwork to get licensed, no exceptions. If pets are already licensed with City of Henderson, this does not apply.

The City of Henderson Animal Care and Control Facility will be open from 7 a.m.to 5 p.m. on Clear the Shelters Days. However, adoptions close at 4:30 p.m. Anyone who would like to adopt a pet during the event must have their furry friend chosen before 4:30 p.m.

PetSmart Adoption Event

Stop by the PetSmart at 286 E. Lake Mead Pkwy. on Saturday, September 19, 2020, when we'll have dogs and cats looking for their forever homes. 9:30 a.m.-2 p.m.

Doggie Paddle & Play Day

Henderson Animal Control officers and volunteers will be available for your questions at the annual Doggie Paddle & Play, Saturday, Sept. 26, 2020, at Black Mountain Aquatic Complex.
