Snowshoe Hike: 6-7 Miles

Join us for a fun-filled winter adventure on the Bristlecone Loop Trail at Mount Charleston. We will snowshoe 6-7 miles round-trip, depending on trail conditions. Snowshoes and trekking poles will be provided. Please dress in layers and bring water. Lunch will be provided. Ages 12-17 must be accompanied by a parent/guardian. Depart 7:00 a.m. from DRC. Minimum of five participants required. Ages 12+

Junior Refuge Ranger Day at Ash Meadows National Wildlife Refuge

This free family-friendly event features refuge-related games and activities for all ages. Visit your local refuge, discover wildlife and earn your Junior Refuge Ranger badge. Bring a sack lunch. Depart from DRC at 9:30 a.m. and return at 3:30 p.m. Ages 8-17 must be accompanied by a parent/guardian. Register/cancel by Jan. 17. Ages 8+
 

Snow Day at Lee Canyon 

Sunday, February 9

Hit the slopes at Lee Canyon. Your lift ticket, snowboard or ski rental, 90-minute lesson, lunch, and round-trip transportation are included. Bring gloves, goggles, ski pants, and jacket. Departs from DRC at 7:00 am. Register/cancel by Jan. 24. Ages 6+

Dana Point Festival of Whales

Explore the realm of the California gray whale and see dolphins, sea birds and other marine wildlife. Take a 2-hour tour with onboard naturalists with years of local whale watching experience provide an informative tour. There’s also time to explore seaside shops and restaurants. Travelers ages 17 and under must be accompanied by a registered adult. We’ll stop for breakfast on your own. Manual wheelchairs only, no electric wheelchairs. Price includes roundtrip transportation and boat admission for the cruise. Depart at 3:00 a.m. from HPSF and 3:30 a.m. from HMGC. Depart from Dana Point at 5:00 p.m. to return to Henderson. Register/cancel by Feb. 26. Minimum of 35 participants required. Ages 6+

Mount Charleston Hike & Lunch

Enjoy a moderate 2.75-mile hike on the Eagle’s Nest Loop trail near Kyle Canyon. There is some moderate elevation gain. After the hike, enjoy lunch (included) at the Mount Charleston Resort. Register/cancel by April 10. Minimum of 10 participants required. Depart from DRC at 9:00 a.m. Ages 14+

Carp Rodeo

Join the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service for a special day of fishing competition and fun at Pahranagat National Wildlife Refuge. The Carp Rodeo runs from 9:00 a.m.- noon. Nevada Department of Wildlife will provide 100 loaner fishing rods and bait; feel free to bring your own. Bring a sack lunch. Those 12 and older will need to purchase a fishing license prior to arrival. Ages 8-17 must be accompanied by a parent/guardian. Depart DRC at 7:00 a.m. and return at 3:00 p.m. Register/cancel by April 17. Ages 8+

Half-Day Deep-Sea Fishing

Join us for a half-day deep-sea fishing trip off the coast of San Diego aboard Seaforth Sportfishing’s 75- ft. boat. Fishing ranges from La Jolla south to Imperial Beach, giving you a good view of the California coastline as well as good fishing. Price includes bait, rod and reel, tackle, and fishing license. For the first-timers, the crew will be happy to help you set up your gear and get fishing. An adult must accompany participants under the age of 18. The boat leaves the wharf at 12:30 p.m. and returns at 5:30 p.m. Depart from HPSF at 5:30 a.m. and HMGC at 6:00 a.m. Depart San Diego by 6:00 p.m. Register/cancel by May 12. Ages 12+

Adult Campout

This adults-only campout will teach you how to set up a tent, start a fire and cook a meal outdoors. A hike will be led by staff. Cost includes roundtrip transportation to Mount Charleston, all equipment, lunch, dinner, s’mores, and breakfast. Depart DRC at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday and return at noon on Sunday. Register/ cancel by May 22. Ages 18+
 
LEGOLand 3-in-1

Saturday, June 20

Your ticket includes admission to LEGOLand, Sea Life Aquarium and LEGOLand Water Park. Price includes round-trip transportation and unlimited use of all park attractions. LEGOLand is best suited for children ages 3-12 who must be at least three years old by the date of the trip, no exceptions. A registered parent/guardian must accompany children ages 3-13; teens ages 14-17 may travel unescorted if registered by a parent/guardian. Depart DRC at 5:00 a.m. and SSRC at 5:30 a.m. Depart LEGOLand at 7:00 p.m. to return to SSRC by midnight and DRC by 12:30 a.m. Register/cancel by June 5. Minimum of 35 participants required. Ages 3+

Campout at Mount Charleston

Have you been interested in camping but don’t know where to start? This introductory overnight campout is for you. Learn how to set up a tent, start a fire and cook a meal outdoors. Hiking and camp games will be led by staff. Cost includes roundtrip transportation to Mount Charleston, all equipment, lunch, dinner, s’mores, and breakfast. Depart from DRC at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday and return at noon on Sunday. Register/cancel by July 1, 2020. Minimum of 8 participants required. Ages 5+

La Jolla Beach Day

Enjoy one last day of summer at the beach. La Jolla’s grandeur is nowhere more evident than along its coastline, where you’ll find some of the most breathtaking beaches in California. A long, wide beach with soft sand, clean water and gentle waves, La Jolla Shores is an ideal spot for families, whether your interest is sunbathing, swimming, surfing or seals. Enjoy the surf and sand as well as shopping and scenery. Youth 17 and under must be accompanied by an adult. Price includes round-trip transportation. Depart at 4:30 a.m. from HPSF and 5:00 a.m. from HMGC. Depart La Jolla by 7:00 p.m. Register/cancel by July 23. Minimum of 35 participants required. Ages 3+

Kids Campout at Mount Charleston

This kids-only campout will teach them how to set up a tent, start a fire and cook a meal outdoors. Hiking, games and crafts will be led by staff. Cost includes round-trip transportation to Mount Charleston, all equipment, lunch, dinner, s’mores, and breakfast. Siblings/relatives will have the option to share a tent. Depart DRC at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday and return at noon on Sunday. Register/cancel by Jul. 31. Ages 8-14

Full-Day Deep-Sea Fishing 

September 18-19

Join us for a full-day deep-sea fishing trip off the coast of San Diego. Fish aboard a 75-ft. sport fishing boat. Price includes bait, rod and reel, tackle, and fishing license. This is a good trip for the more experienced angler. An adult must accompany participants under the age of 18. A valid passport or passport card is required for each passenger. The boat leaves the wharf at 5:30 a.m. and returns at 5:00 p.m. Depart from SSRC at 11:00 p.m.; Depart San Diego by 6:00 p.m. Register/cancel by May 15. Ages 12+

  • Registration is open and ongoing for all excursions. Reserve your spot today! Register in person at any recreation center, senior center or indoor pool, or online using the activity codes listed.
  • If you need wheelchair accessible transportation, call us at least two weeks prior to the excursion at 702-267-5707.
  • Children MUST be accompanied by a registered parent/guardian in order to participate. See each excursion description for details.
  • Excursions may be canceled if minimum enrollment is not met by the registration deadlines listed.
