Hiking Henderson

Getting out and hiking a Henderson trail is rewarding on its own. But, when you join Hiking Henderson, you could earn a chestnut hiking staff.

Hike a minimum of eight of the designated trails. After completing each hike, date your form. Hikes must be completed January 1-April 30 (winter session), May 1-Augugust 31 (summer session) and September 1-December 31 (fall session). Trails are open daily, 6am-11pm, unless otherwise noted. Seven of the hikes must be on City of Henderson trails; the eighth may be on any trail you choose.

First-year hikers receive a hiking staff after completing eight hikes in the three-month time frame. Enrollment in the Hiking Henderson program is $20. You’ll receive a list of trails to choose from. After hiking a trail, fill in the date and have it signed, if staff is present. Return the form at the end of the season or when you have completed eight hikes to receive your hiking staff.

If you’re a veteran hiker (having completed one series of hikes), you are eligible to receive a medallion to affix to your hiking staff each time you sign up and complete eight hikes in a season. Cost of the medallion is $8. Design and/or color of the medallion will change each season.

Hiking Henderson registration forms are available at all Henderson recreation centers and here. Completed forms should be returned to Outdoor Recreation staff at Downtown Recreation Center, 105 W. Basic Rd.
