In an effort to engage citizens and bring together city councils nationwide, Mayor Andy Hafen of Henderson, Nevada, is inviting municipal governments to take part in the inaugural National City Council Meeting. Modeled after the annual National Night Out, which brings police together with the community, the National City Council Meeting will create a national conversation around issues important to communities of all sizes and promote the work of city councils and elected leaders.
Communities are encouraged to host their National City Council Meeting on May 3, 2016 (or within a two-week timeframe through May 17, 2016). It can be held in conjunction with a regularly scheduled council meeting or it can be a special meeting.
The National City Council Meeting provides a meaningful opportunity for city council meetings to give the community a voice, to introduce residents to how their city council is working for them and to demonstrate that city government and elected officials are listening and responding.
Sign up today and be part of the conversation!
