Ward I - Jim Seebock
Professional Biography
Jim Seebock was elected to the Henderson City Council via special election in April 2023 representing Ward I, which includes the historic Water Street district.
Councilman Seebock serves with the mayor and his fellow council members as the legislative branch for the Henderson community. Their responsibilities include setting policies and making decisions concerning various aspects of local government for Nevada’s second largest city, recognized as being one of the safest cities and best places to live in the nation.
Councilman Seebock represents the City of Henderson on the Southern Nevada District Board of Health. Prior to joining the Council, he served on the City of Henderson’s Civil Service Board from 2009 to 2012 and was appointed to the Parks and Recreation Board in 2012 for a term through 2017.
Councilman Seebock first moved to Henderson as a child in 1986, where he attended Burkholder Junior High School and graduated from Basic High School.
After graduation, he joined the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department (LVMPD) in 1993 and retired in July 2023 after 30 years of service. He served in many roles as he rose through the ranks, including Patrol Officer, Narcotics Detective, K9 Sergeant, Counter Terrorism Lieutenant, several Captain-level positions and Deputy Chief, before his promotion in December 2022 to Assistant Sheriff. Over the course of his career, Jim Seebock was awarded the Unit Medal of Valor as well as several Meritorious Medals of Service.
While employed with the LVMPD, Jim obtained an Associate of Arts degree in Criminal Justice from College of Southern Nevada, a Bachelor of Public Administration in Law Enforcement from Nevada State College and a Master of Arts in Security Studies from the Naval Postgraduate School.
Councilman Seebock is proud to live in Henderson with his wife of 26 years and their teen-aged twins (boy and girl). He enjoys hiking the 220 miles of trails in our community and the occasional beach getaway with his family.
