EMAP (Emergency Management Accreditation Program)
The City achieved its first full consecutive accreditation by EMAP in 2022. Accreditation recognizes the ability of programs to bring together personnel, resources, and communications from a variety of agencies and organizations in preparation for and in response to a disaster of any type.
To achieve accreditation, applicants must demonstrate through self-assessment, documentation, and peer assessment verification that its program meets the Emergency Management Standard. The emergency management program uses the accreditation to prove the capabilities of its disaster preparedness and response systems.
ISO 14001 and 45001 (International Organization for Standarization)
The City of Henderson has been successful in achieving two ISO standards. The City has successfully achieved ISO 45001:2018 Occupational Health and Safety Management certification of all processes and locations within City Hall. We have also achieved ISO 14001:2015 Environmental Management System certification of a broad scale of the City’s operations including Fire & Rescue, Police Operations for Evidence, Animal Control and Corrections, Environmental Management, Community Development Services, Water & Wastewater Management, Public Works, and Park & Trail Operations. Being able to adhere to these internationally recognized standards for workplace safety and environmental highlights the City’s mission to Be Premier.
ISO 45001 and 14001 focuses on processes to minimize risks of hazards in the workplace and to the environment. The ISO framework brings a systematic approach to innovation that improves our service performance, lowers costs, improves safety, incorporates new technology, and involves employees in the areas of conservation, pollution prevention, waste reduction, climate emergency preparedness, workplace wellness and safety. We execute this framework through collaboration with our leaders, employees, and community partners using the “Plan, Do, Check, Act” Continuous Improvement Cycle.
