The City Attorney is the legal adviser of the City Council and all officers of the City in matters respecting the affairs of the City. The Civil division provides legal guidance and support for elected officials, City departments, and boards and commissions as they conduct the business of the City. The department represents the City before judicial and administrative agencies in civil litigation proceedings; furnishes legal advice and opinions; drafts and reviews contracts and other legal documents; initiates legal action; interprets law.
