The City of Henderson supports first-time homebuyers and homeownership programs in our community.

First-Time Homebuyer Programs

Please visit the HUD website for the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development's Approved Housing Counseling agencies and community partners that offer down payment assistance and pre-purchase counseling to eligible first-time homebuyers.

Nevada Housing Division's Home is Possible Program

The State of Nevada’s Home is Possible Down Payment Assistance Program is a grant program that helps make the dream of homeownership a reality for qualified Nevadans. Introduced in 2014, this program assists eligible homebuyers with down payment and closing cost assistance.

Housing Rehabilitation Program

The City of Henderson is committed to preserving the affordable housing stock in our community.

Rebuilding Together Southern Nevada

The Housing Rehabilitation Program helps Henderson residents with repairs such as code violations, health and safety issues, energy efficiency and ADA modifications. The Critical Repair program may include heating and cooling systems, minor roof repairs, and plumbing.

The City supports a variety of housing resources for Henderson residents.

St. Jude's Ranch for Children

St. Jude’s Ranch for Children, provides tenant based rental assistance, case management and referral services to eligible youth families ages 18-24.

The Tenant Based Rental Assistance Program (TBRA) assists families who are 60% or below median income with rental assistance, residential security deposits, utility deposits, and utility payments.

Funding for this program is provided to St. Jude’s Ranch for Children through funds allocated to the City of Henderson from the State of Nevada Housing Division.

The Salvation Army Henderson United Corps

The Salvation Army Henderson United Corps provides tenant based rental assistance, case management and referral services to eligible families to prevent homelessness.

The Tenant Based Rental Assistance Program (TBRA) assists families who are 60% or below median income with rental assistance, residential security deposits, utility deposits and utility payments.

Funding for this program is provided to Salvation Army through funds allocated to the City of Henderson from the State of Nevada Housing Division.

HopeLink of Southern Nevada

HopeLink of Southern Nevada is a State Family Resource Center that provides homeless prevention and financial assistance services to eligible households with critical housing needs.

HopeLink provides tenant based rental assistance, case management and referral services to eligible families. The Tenant Based Rental Assistance Program (TBRA) and Welfare Set-Aside programs assists families who are 60% or below median income with rental assistance, residential security deposits, utility deposits and utility payments for residents at risk of becoming homeless.

Funding for this program is provided to HopeLink through funds allocated to the City of Henderson from the State of Nevada Housing Division.

Legal Resources for Residents

Legal Aid Center of Southern Nevada

Legal Aid Center of Southern Nevada (LACSN) represents foster children (court appointed only) and protected persons (court appointed only), and also covers a variety of legal needs, including social security, tenants' rights, immigration, family law, record sealing, and consumer law. LACSN offers free classes on legal topics from bankruptcy to paternity and individuals can find Ask-A-Lawyer events on the LACSN website.

LACSN runs the Civil Law Self-Help Center, the Family Law Self-Help Center, and the Resiliency and Justice Center, which helps victims of violent crime. Victims can call 702-455-2433 to access the Resiliency and Justice Center. General intake is in person at 725 E. Charleston Blvd or individuals can call 702-386-1070. Tenants' rights cases should be directed to the Civil Law Self-Help Center.

Southern Nevada Senior Law Program

The Southern Nevada Senior Law Program (SLP) does not have income guidelines. Clients must be 60 years of age or older, and reside in Southern Nevada. SLP's primary practice areas are estate planning, elder law, government benefits, housing, and consumer law. To make an appointment, individuals can call SLP at 702-229-6596 or visit the SLP website.

Nevada Legal Services

Nevada Legal Services (NLS) assists low-income Nevadans with a variety of civil legal needs, including family law, housing, government benefits, criminal record sealing, and workers' rights, among others. NLS hosts numerous Ask-A-Lawyer events. NLS operates an online intake system on the NLS website, or individuals can call 702-383-6095 for tenants' rights issues. All other inquiries can call NLS at 702-386-0404.
