Getting Started
The following links will help guide you through the process of registering your business and applying for your license.
Register with Nevada Secretary of State
Register Business through SilverFlume
Why do I need to register with Nevada Secretary of State?
State law requires that every person or entity doing business in the State of Nevada obtain a state business license or exemption annually. The City of Henderson has partnered with the Nevada Secretary of State to accept Henderson business license applications for new businesses through SilverFlume, Nevada's Business Portal. If you have not registered your business with the State of Nevada prior to applying for a Henderson business license, please click the above SilverFlume link.
Note that registering through SilverFlume will provide businesses the opportunity to also register with Nevada Department of Taxation and Nevada Division of Industrial Relations. This can also be done separately, as outlined below.
Register with Nevada Department of Taxation
State law also requires businesses to either register with or receive an exemption from Nevada Department of Taxation. Registration with Nevada Department of Taxation can be done through the business's SilverFlume account or by visiting a local Nevada Department of Taxation office.
Register with Nevada Division of Industrial Relations
State law requires all businesses to complete a declaration stating that, unless determined to be exempt, they have obtained or provided workers' compensation insurance for their employees. Businesses can make their declaration online through their SilverFlume account, or complete the D-25 form and submit in person to a City of Henderson Business Licensing Technician at time of application.
Fictitious Firm Names
If your business is operating under a name other than your legal name or the legal name of your entity (ex. 'My New Business, LLC' operating as 'My New Business'), the name must be filed with the office of the Clark County Clerk.

What to Expect After Applying
Non-Privileged Licenses
Businesses applying in-person for a non-privileged license will usually leave our office with a 60-day conditional license. A conditional license allows businesses to start conducting non-privileged business activities while inspections are completed. Inspections must be completed and approved within the first 60 days, or businesses will require an extension in order to continue doing business.
Businesses applying online must have their application reviewed by staff and have paid their fees in full before being able to print their business license through the online portal. The 60-day license conditions above still apply.
Privileged Licenses
Businesses applying for one or more privileged licenses have additional requirements that must be met prior to issuance of those licenses. Requirements will vary depending on license classifications sought, but can include:
- State/federal specific licenses for classification
- Background investigations for owners, officers and/or key employees
Other restrictions may apply. Additionally, privileged licenses must be approved by Henderson City Council at a council meeting prior to license issuance. In some cases, businesses may apply for a temporary license. Fees apply. Please speak with our staff for more information.
