Thank you for your interest in beginning a Neighborhood Watch program. This information that will guide you through the process of hosting an informational meeting regarding Neighborhood Watch.

• Select a venue to host the meeting. This can be at a residence, church or property management meeting room or local community center.
• Select a date to host the meeting.
• Contact HPD’s Community Resource Unit and confirm an officer to attend.
• Invite neighbors and all interested parties to attend (Neighborhood Watch is a team effort so the more in attendance the better).
• To schedule an officer for your initial Neighborhood Watch Meeting, you may make a request at www.cityofhenderson.com/government/contact-us or by calling 702-267-5100.
  • Please note CRU officers are not available on weekends. You may request an officer for an evening meeting if it begins no later than 6pm. You will be contacted via email if your request can be accommodated by a CRU officer and an officer will be assigned to your event.
  • The officer will call you to CONFIRM the date and time for the Neighborhood Watch Meeting and discuss any details with you. Please wait to hear from the officer BEFORE PROMOTING YOUR EVENT.

• Once your event is confirmed, notify all your neighbors in your community through email blasts, social media posts, flyers or word of mouth. Neighborhood Watch is a team effort.

Once the community members have met with HPD CRU officers the next steps involve:

• Establish who will be the block captains for the community.
  • Block captains will be responsible for recruiting members to join Neighborhood Watch and be a source for the block should questions about crime or criminal activity arise.
• Prior to sending block captains and any volunteers out to start recruitment, notify the community of recruitment efforts through email blasts, social media, newsletters etc. This will inform and prepare the community, so they don’t think solicitors are at their door.
• Complete the online registration form. 

Once HPD has confirmed that the required number of registrations are in, the community will be provided two Neighborhood Watch Signs (while supplies last) and the authorization to purchase more. CRU officer will make arrangements for drop off or pick up.

To remain in good standing, a community must hold one meeting annually (more if desired).
