Services
Medical Unit
Our practice is that all medical matters involving medical judgment are the sole provinces of the medical contractor. The facility has a nurse on duty 24 hours a day who is responsible for medical services. The medical service includes non-emergency and emergency medical service, mental health services, dental service, medication and prescription services.
Chaplaincy Program
Our practice is to offer a non-denominational religious service, religious education, prayer sessions, and counseling to inmates. The service is provided by the Henderson Police Department’s Chaplains program and approved volunteers. A non-denominational service is conducted on Sundays at the designated scheduled times.
Classification
Our practice is to maintain a classification system that ensures public, staff and inmate safety. A system that classifies prisoners in a fair and consistent manner according to the prisoner’s individual custodial management and program needs.
Commissary
A reasonable selection of commissary goods is provided. These items are listed on the Inmate Commissary Menu. The commissary items on the form may change from time to time depending on the following:
- Popularity of item
- Availability of item (discontinued, backordered, etc.)
- Misuse of items
- Other safety and security reasons as determined by the Administrative staff.
Commissary goods can be purchased for loved ones or funds can be deposited into an inmate's accounts for the purchase of goods.
Deposit funds into commissary account.
Mail Services
All inmates are encouraged to maintain ties with their friends and family which aids in their reintegration process. Corresponding by mail is one of the ways an inmate can maintain these ties. The Detention Center recognizes the rights of the inmates to free access to courts, attorneys and government officials as well.
Visitation Information
The Henderson Detention Center encourages inmates to maintain ties with their families and friends through regular visits. Visiting is scheduled to promote such access, and may be limited by staff demands, safety and security concerns and disciplinary sanctions. Inmate visitations include visits from professional and non-professional persons.
